Maira Zamir Syed is a Gender and Energy Specialist at the World Bank in Washington DC, with over five years of experience in gender issues within the energy and climate change sectors, and addressing GBV in conflict settings. She excels in social development policy and gender mainstreaming, with expertise in project design and evaluation. Maira has worked with institutions like the UN and led the establishment of the first gender unit in Pakistan’s Planning Commission. She co-authored a book on CPEC and holds advanced degrees from Cornell, Peking, and Humboldt universities, along with fellowships from the Salata Institute at Harvard and Erasmus-Mundus from Humboldt.
