AMMWEC took part in the USCIR event commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998 (IRFA). IRFA prioritizes religious freedom in U.S. foreign policy, enhancing the nation’s advocacy for individuals persecuted in foreign countries due to their religion or belief. Attendees at the event included Anila Ali and Dr. Seemab Asif, who had the opportunity to meet with Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA).
In collaboration with “Muslims of America” and “Sikhs of America,” AMMWEC organized a vigil to express solidarity with the citizens of Israel. The event, led by Sajid Tarar, Jasdip Singh, and Anila Ali, took place in front of the White House. Participants joined hands with Jewish Americans to condemn Hamas’s brutality against Israeli citizens, including Muslims who suffered from kidnappings and murders on October 7. Anila Ali represented AMMWEC at the WOMEN LIFE FREEDOM Film Festival held at the UNGA. The event featured a compelling lineup of short films, expert speakers, panels, practical tools, and networking opportunities. These short films symbolize a collaborative initiative to bolster the ongoing freedom movement for women’s rights and democratic change. Chair and AMMWEC President Anila Ali delivered a keynote address at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago, USA. “For women, the fiery duality of religion is even more intense. It can serve as an unparalleled source of empowerment and growth, or it can be a deadly force of subjugation and repression” Anila Ali was featured in an interview on NPR and also appeared on KVR Radio discussing the theme “Parliament of the World’s Religions hopes to showcase the positive impact of faith.”
