Celebrating and inspiring the American Muslims potential of individuals through no-strings-attached fellowships.
AMMWEC’s Engaging Leaders: Empowering Communities Fellowship program is designed to strengthen grassroots Muslim leadership across the United States. The program equips community leaders with the skills, networks, and resources needed for effective civic engagement and national advocacy.
Fellows participate in virtual leadership and policy workshops focused on engaging local and federal government, including members of Congress and executive branch officials. The program culminates in a Washington, D.C. convening, where fellows connect with peers and meet key civic and policy leaders.
The fellowship builds a national support network for Muslim Americans committed to constructive civic participation. Fellows may also apply for up to $2,000 in micro-grants to support community initiatives that promote cultural pride and civic recognition.
Participants include community activists, clergy, students, and journalists dedicated to positive social impact. Fellows commit to active participation in all training sessions and program activities.
Applications are now open.
Deadline: November 1, 2026

“The fellowship aims to elevate exceptional individuals working in local communities, providing them with national exposure as community leaders. It will establish a support network of patriotic Muslim Americans committed to mainstream civic engagement and connect them with national leaders eager to engage with inspiring voices from Muslim communities. We proudly welcome the AMMWEC 2024 Fellows.“
